Cadillac announced the start of production of its luxury electric car, the Celestic 2024, which seeks to compete with the Rolls-Royce Spectre. It is a luxury sedan that combines elegance and power and runs entirely on electric power. It is also considered the most expensive Cadillac car in history.

The Cadillac Celestic is distinguished by its elegant design, advanced features, and powerful electric powertrain system. It is handcrafted at the General Motors Global Technical Center in Warren, Michigan, and represents a paradigm shift in the luxury electric vehicle sector.

Prices for the Cadillac Celestic start at US$340,000 (approximately SAR 1,275,000), and are only available through a waiting list. Expectations indicate that Cadillac plans to produce between 100 and 150 copies annually, which enhances its exclusivity.

Celestiq is known as the “Cadillac Halo” and is distinguished by its advanced technologies and unique features. However, some skeptics wonder if its price is too high, especially considering its 600 hp and 868 Nm of torque, which are relatively modest for a car in this segment.

Its acceleration from 0 to 96 km/h in 3.8 seconds is not bad, but it may not completely satisfy speed enthusiasts.

However, what truly sets Cadillac's most expensive cars apart is the unprecedented level of customization they offer. Customers can design their cars according to their exact preferences, choosing a wide range of materials, finishes, colors and other elements. The interior is equipped with the latest technology and features multiple digital screens.

The Celestiq is based on GM's BEV3 platform, and derives its power from a 111 kWh GM Ultium battery pack and two GM Ultium Drive electric motors.

Although these components provide good performance, critics question whether they measure up to the standards set by other luxury electric cars.

Cadillac claims the Celestiq is capable of covering 483 km on a single charge, and with the 200 kW fast charging system on board, the car can gain an additional 126 km of range in just 10 minutes.

Despite its high price, reports revealed that Celestic's production warehouse during the first 18 months of production was completely sold out within just one month of its unveiling in December 2022.

With the Rolls-Royce Specter Electric as its closest competitor in the ultra-luxury electric car market, Cadillac has a unique opportunity to make a lasting impression.
